| We present preliminary results from a Spitzer study of the Corona Australis molecular cloud region. Corona Australis (CrA) has been observed with IRAC and MIPS as part of the IRAC GTO program and the GO Gould Belt Legacy survey. Relatively nearby at approximately 150 pc, CrA is known to be actively forming stars, particularly within its embedded association, the Coronet. CrA contains at least a dozen dense condensations along an elongated filament, with many of them harboring pre-main sequence stars. The star formation efficiency (SFE) has been estimated by several groups to be 40-50%, similar to rho Ophiuchus. With the sensitivity in the mid-infrared now available with Spitzer, we have the capability to re-evaluate the SFE in CrA by obtaining a complete census of the embedded young stellar objects (YSOs). Our Spitzer observations identify approximately 50 Class I and Class II YSOs and we present these sources along with their spectral energy distributions. In addition, we present the spatial distribution of the YSOs and compare with the distribution of dense gas. |
